Gleaners is proud to announce the upcoming opening of a new resource center on its campus, designed to offer neighbors with resources to help overcome the conditions causing food insecurity.

The Tom and Julie Wood Family Resource Center at Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana is scheduled to open this April. It will function as a comprehensive support hub for the community, providing wraparound services including a medical clinic, diaper bank, legal aid, and more.

Gleaners is partnering with Gennesaret Free Clinics to establish a permanent medical clinic in the new resource center.

“We’re not in the charitable food business. We’re in the poverty alleviation business, armed with food,” said Gleaners President & CEO Fred Glass. “This partnership with Gennesaret Free Clinics is just one way we’re addressing the root causes of poverty — offering no-cost healthcare to free up space in our neighbors’ budgets for other essentials.”

Work in progress! The new Tom and Julie Wood Family Resource Center is on track to open in April 2025.

Gennesaret’s clinic at Gleaners will offer a range of medical services, including:

  • Comprehensive medical exams
  • Chronic disease management
  • Preventive care
  • Dental care

Gleaners will continue to combat food insecurity through the on-site pantry, plus services provided by the Outreach Team, including SNAP, Medicaid, TANF and CCDF application assistance. Gleaners will also partner with other organizations to provide resources like Indiana WIC Nutrition Services, financial literacy courses, and English as a New Language classes.

This integrated model ensures that families can address multiple basic needs in one convenient location, paving the way for greater stability and health.

Dedicated volunteers are in high demand for the Wood Family Resource Center.
